Meural combines the best of art, technology, and design to create products that make us feel something. It's our goal to make art universally accessible, and a part of people's daily lives.
Art is for everyone, and we're dedicated to bringing it into homes of all shapes and sizes. It's our mission to democratize art.
We empower our community with choice: to discover, curate, and create what's on their walls.
Meural was founded in August 2014 by friends Vladimir Vukicevic and Jerry Hu, first generation immigrants who met at NYU during freshman orientation. Before starting Meural, Vlad was the co-founder and CTO at RocketHub, a leading crowdfunding platform that empowered artists. Jerry was a product manager at FreshDirect, and a former docent for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
After building a small team of passionate experts, Meural was incubated out of an artist collective in the Lower East Side, sourcing feedback straight from artists. The first year was spent on R&D: developing the right display, building the ambient light sensor, creating gesture control, and designing the frames.
In late 2015, we sold out our initial batch of Meural Canvases, and began shipping our second group in the summer of 2016. In 2015, we received $695,000 in angel funding from a set of investors including Bolt, Jeff Baltimore, and Jerry Colonna. In 2016, our seed round closed, raising $2.45 million from Corigin Ventures (who led the round), Barbara Corcoran Venture Partners, Francois Bennahmias, Elio Leoni Sceti, Bolt, and others.
The rapidly growing team is based in New York. We’re a close-knit, passionate, global bunch—from Australia, China, Israel, Serbia, the UK, and the US.

Meural makes it a priority to work with the creator in mind. That means offering fair compensation, and actively seeking to amplify our artists’ audience. We’re at the ground floor of the art community, and have had the privilege to partner with a group of inspiring institutions.
