Great news! We’re happy to report that manufacturing preparation is well under way and that we’re on pace to ship the first Meural digital frames on schedule - in the Fall of this year.
Our product development team traveled to Shenzhen between June 30th and July 8th. It truly is the “Silicon Valley of the East.”
We met with our manufacturers and toured their facilities. There was a great deal to cover as our product covers the gamut of production and skills: wood craft, metal work, electrical engineering, and software development.
We spent much of our time with our computer board company. We had a lot to discuss: gesture control, ambient light sensor, and the overall firmware that puts it all together.
We visited our metal worker to discuss the process for folding the inner metal frame construction, which houses the display and electronic components. Meural digital frames are built in a modular way, so it’s easy to mount inside our beautiful wooden frame designs or custom frame choices. The construction is light (for easy hanging) and strong (for durability and protection).
We also toured the assembly factory where each component will be tested (heat, humidity, drop test, and vibration test), assembled, packed, and shipped.
Our next step is the completion of the beta batch of units. This batch will be submitted for FCC certification and further testing. While we wait for this process to run its course, our design team is finalizing the packaging.
More to come soon!
